Hickory Bend's first spelling bee was great!

Hickory Bend students have been busy spelling! All students participated in classroom spelling competitions. The top three students from each classroom then moved on to the grade level spelling bee that was held in the gym on May 24, 2007. The top three students were given a list of grade appropriate words to study to prepare for the tournament.
Parents and students were invited to watch the spelling competition. One teacher from each grade level was chosen as a pronouncer and two judges were on hand for each session. Students were asked to follow spelling bee rules of conduct and did a fantastic job.
All staff members were so proud of the effort put forth by all participants. The first grade students even went through all 150 first grade words and had to move on to the second grade list! The grade level winners received trophies made by Hoosier Sports of Dyer. Thank you to everyone that helped make HB's first spelling bee a success!
