Hickory Bend's 2nd Annual Science Fair A Success
HB's young scientists showed how much they learned!

On Wednesday, May 14th, parents and other relatives of Hickory
Bend students came to view over 150 science projects that were on
display that evening.
These displays were the culmination of a month long process during
which all students from Kindergarten through 4th grade learned
about the scientific method and applied it to various experiments.
Each of these experiments began with a question that needed to be
answered. Students formed hypotheses, developed a plan to test
their hypothesis, collected and analyzed data and came to a
conclusion about their hypothesis.
Kindergarten and First Grade completed classroom projects while Second Grade performed small group experiments. Each Third and Fourth Grade student did their own individual project and presented them for judging in their classroom. The top five projects from each classroom were then judged the morning of the Science Fair by people from the community.
A grant from the Joliet Local Section of the American Chemistry Society allowed Hickory Bend to provide display boards to all students who participated in the Science Fair. Their generosity helped us facilitate this wonderful hands on enhancement of our science curriculum.
A big THANK YOU goes to all students, teachers, parents, judges, and the Joliet ACS who helped make our Science Fair a HUGE success!
