StJudeMathAThon2We will be kicking off this special service-learning project on March 3rd (7th grade) and March 4th (8th grade). By participating in this Math-A-Thon, your child can help kids in the fight against childhood cancer – all while earning great prizes – just by solving math problems with the St. Jude Math-A-Thon.

The St. Jude Math-A-Thon is a free educational program that teaches kids the importance of math while benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The Math-A-Thon curriculum is developed by Scholastic and is Common Core approved. And participating is easy.

Brookwood Jr. High School is joining thousands of schools already helping the kids of St. Jude through the St. Jude Math-A-Thon. Not only is this Math-A-Thon simple to implement and Common Core approved, it gives our students a service-learning experience as they learn about St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Unlike any other hospital, St. Jude relies on funding from everyday people, meaning students who participate are making a real difference in the lives of kids just like them.

We are excited to share with you the outcome of this school-wide effort. We end the Math-A-Thon on March 18th. Please encourage your child to participate. If parents have any questions about this activity they should contact their child’s math teacher at Brookwood Jr. High School.
